Three people have been arrested in a January 26 purse-snatching which occurred at Walmart.

Roanoke Rapids Police Department Investigator Gorton Williams said in a statement public assistance aided in the identification and arrests of Jeffrey Brad Timberlake II, Lauren Elizabeth White and James Dansey White.

Timberlake, 30, of Jackson, faces charges of larceny from the person and conspiracy. James White, 20, of Sedley, Virginia, which is near Franklin, faces charges of conspiracy and identity theft while Lauren White, 23, of Murfreesboro, faces a count of conspiracy.

Timberlake was arrested Friday by Jackson police; James White was arrested February 2 in Southampton County and is currently detained in the jail in the county seat of Courtland on local charges and awaits extradition to North Carolina. Lauren White was arrested Monday by the Northampton County Sheriff's Office.

Williams said the investigation continues and more charges may be filed in North Carolina and Virginia.

Timberlake received a $10,000 bond and March 16 court date while Lauren White received a $1,000 bond the same court date as Timberlake.

The purse-snatching occurred around 11:30 a.m. when the victim reported to Lieutenant Charles Burnette the purse was taken from her shopping cart and a person described as a white male fled toward the Verizon store.

The victim contacted Burnette shortly before 5 p.m. and reported there was activity on their credit cards after the larceny.

“I want to thank the citizens that provided us with the information that led to the identification and arrest of these suspects,” Chief Chuck Hasty said in the statement. “With the help of the media and social media sites it provided investigators with the information to bring this case together. The teamwork among the different law enforcement agencies worked well in sharing information and assisting each other helps in bringing the suspects to face the consequences of their alleged crimes.”
