In that conference it was determined, based on the evidence and the facts, the shooter was acting in self defense when he shot 25-year-old Enfield resident Kenneth Jones.
Tripp said this afternoon it appears the matter stemmed from an earlier dispute at a Rocky Mount grocery store and carried over to the Fun Drive residence near the Nash County line where the shooting occurred. Tripp declined further elaboration on the nature of the dispute, only to say there was some kind of disagreement.
The sheriff's office has, however, filed warrants for the arrest of Ebony Rudd, 28, of Rocky Mount, for breaking and entering and misdemeanor damage to personal property which occurred at the Fun Drive residence around 7:45 the evening of the shooting.
Tripp said in the statement Rudd was reportedly with Jones when he was shot and killed.
Anyone with information on her whereabouts is encouraged to call the sheriff's office at 252-583-8201 Crimestoppers at 252-583-4444 or submit a tip via the sheriff's website.
