Captain M.D. DeLoatch Sr. of the Northampton County Sheriff's Office said each time Jamie Fennell, 29, was stopped — once on January 29 and again this past Saturday — he fled after law enforcement reportedly found drugs in his vehicle.

Each time, once by Deputy M. Sledge and then by Lieutenant C. Williams, warrants were taken out for his arrest on counts of felony possession of cocaine; possession with intent to sell and deliver; maintaining a vehicle to store a controlled substance and resisting an officer. Williams also took out a warrant for possession of drug paraphernalia.

Thursday, DeLoatch said, he received a tip Fennell showed up for a court appearance in Jackson, and the man, who the captain described as a reputed street-level drug dealer, was placed in the county detention center on $12,700 secured bond and assigned a Monday court date.

Sheriff Jack Smith said in a statement he commends Williams and Sledge for their observance in the cases. “The Northampton County Sheriff’s Office is committed to removing all illegal drugs from our community.”
