Roanoke Rapids Planning and Development Director Kelly Lasky said no construction timetable was provided to the city.
Once the plans are approved, site work can start, but SECU will still have to submit construction plans.
SECU City Executive David Williams said today the need for new branch became apparent about two to three years after the new branch opened on Old Farm Road. “If you came back here on a Friday or the first of the month you can see the need. I hate seeing people wait.”
Williams said the Tenth Street branch will be modeled on the latest style which will allow all employees to have a view of the lobby.
He said the new branch will create at least 15 new jobs.
Williams said SECU is also working on a plan to address the banners honoring veterans along the Tenth Street fence. “We're not sure what we're going to do, but we're going to do something.”
