A pretrial release revocation hearing for Operation Rockfish defendant Lann Clanton will be held next Wednesday in Greenville, according to federal court records.

The hearing comes after Clanton, who was on pretrial release until his sentencing in March, was charged by the Weldon Police Department last month with resisting, delaying and obstructing an officer, according to both federal court records and a local police report.
Clanton, who Weldon police say was taken to Greenville Tuesday on a federal warrant, appeared before Magistrate Judge Kimberly A. Swank for an initial appearance with his attorney today.
Minute entries in the federal court record show he was advised of his rights, charges, violations and penalties.
Swank set the revocation hearing for next Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Greenville.
According to the petition for action on conditions of pretrial release, Senior United States Probation Officer Bentley H. Massey noted Clanton has been on pretrial release since September 1, 2015.
Massey noted in the document, however, on November 26 Clanton “committed the criminal conduct of resisting a public officer.”
Massey said Clanton was arrested by Weldon Officer Q.L. Godley. “The defendant was reportedly intoxicated and belligerent to the point that the arresting officer had to subdue him with a stun gun. Additionally, Clanton violated the court ordered curfew condition, as the arrest occurred around midnight and the defendant has a curfew of 9 p.m.”
The Weldon police report shows the arrest occurred later than is stated in the federal court record and shows officers responded to First and Maple streets around 2:15 a.m.
Officers working 51 Sycamore received a call for help in the area and observed two women, who were charged with simple affray, fighting.
Clanton was in the passenger seat of a vehicle as the fight occurred outside. He was trying to hold onto a purse which Sergeant Thomas Mason was apparently trying to collect as evidence. Clanton eventually let Mason take the purse and Godley told him to stay in the car.
Clanton refused, got out of the vehicle and “got in Godley’s face” as the officer kept telling him to get back inside. Clanton refused to listen and Godley used the Taser to dry stun him.
Clanton has a December 21 for the misdemeanor resisting count, according to state court records.
He also has a pending court date on January 9 to answer to charges of expired registration, speeding and expired inspection.
Clanton is one of 14 arrested in the federal police corruption case to take a plea. Another, Antonio Tillmon, entered a not guilty plea.
