RRPD blotter: December 20-21, 2016

The Roanoke Rapids Police Department reported the following, according to Chief Chuck Hasty:

Tuesday December 20, 2016

• Arkies Ty-Kill Sommerville, 19, of Roanoke Rapids, was arrested on outstanding warrants at approximately 4:30 p.m. for burglary, larceny of a firearm, possession of a stolen firearm, larceny after breaking and entering and two counts of damage to property.
He received a $6,000 bond and December 28 court date.
Master Officer J. Benthall located Sommerville at his residence on Love Street without trouble.
The charges stem from an investigation by Halifax County Sheriff’s Office Detective R.M. Brown.

• Richard Lamar Shearin Jr., 24, of Roanoke Rapids, was arrested at approximately 5:15 a.m. for driving while license revoked and was served an outstanding order for arrest.
Shearin received a $4,000 bond and January 6 court date.
Officer A. Green conducted a traffic stop for a violation on Highway 125 near I-95 and discovered his license was revoked and he had an outstanding order.

Wednesday December 21, 2016

• Edward Lee Murphy, 53, of Roanoke Rapids, was arrested and charged at approximately 2:30 p.m. for assault.
He received a $500 bond and February 17 court date.
Benthall responded to New Dixie Mart on Julian R. Allsbrook Highway for an assault.
The investigation led to the charges.
Lieutenant B. Norton and Officer M. Hunsucker assisted.
