SPORTS CLUB- SPARK PLUG AWARD - goes to a student whom contributes unselfishly and freely of their time, dependable, takes pride in their job and does not expect or seek recognition for job performed, performs tasks "behind the scenes" that go unnoticed by the fans and players, and is the coach's "right hand man."
As a manager for the baseball team, this year's winner did everything he could to ensure that the coaching staff and players had a successful practice or game. He showed up early for practice and games to help get the field ready each day. Whether it was lining the field, raking the mound or plate, or setting up equipment for the day he did an excellent job of having things ready so that the team could get the most out of practice each day. During games, he kept the scorebook and made sure that the information that the coaches and players needed was always right at hand. His hard work and determination are traits that the baseball coaching staff appreciated, respected, and will truly miss next year.

The year's winner has played 3 years of basketball and 4 years softball during her RRHS career. According to her softball coach, she has shown tremendous growth as a player and individual over the past 4 years playing softball. First to get to practice and often last to leave, she helped set the tone of success on the field. She would often ask "what am I doing wrong? Or what can I do to be better." She also always put the needs of others before her own whether it is on the field, in the gym, or in life. Consistently striving to improve her own skills, not for her own grandeur, but in order to make the best team possible. She not only pushes herself and her teammates, but also her coaches. She constantly raised the bar because she knew it would make her team better.

The winner of this year's award participated in soccer for 4 years, wrestling 3 years, and basketball one year during his career at RRHS. According to his coach, this young man plays with a level of intensity and focus that is very rare. During the soccer season he scored 28 goals to lead the team, many of them coming when the games were close. In basketball, even though it was his first season competing at the high school level, he was quickly able to earn a spot in the rotation. He was a spark offensively and defensively throughout the season. His mental toughness and competitiveness were always evident in practice. He led by example and made his teammates better because of the intensity he practiced with. That will not doubt lead to his success on the soccer field at Wake Tech in the fall.

MICKEY GUKICH AWARD – is given to a senior male athlete possessing the following traits: outstanding leadership, outstanding athletic ability both individually and as a team player and loyalty to the school, administration, classmates and teammates.
This year's award goes to a young man who has been a member of the football team for 4 years, wrestling team for 3 years, and track team for 3 years. For the football team he was a 2 year starter on the offensive line. In wrestling, he has been a starter for 3 years. This past season he wrestled in the 195 pound weight class where he went 31 and 9. He missed making the state meet by one match. He finished as the fifth best wrestler in the

AIMEE ERWIN AWARD – is given to a senior female athlete possessing the following traits: outstanding leadership, outstanding athletic ability both individually and as a team player and loyalty to the school, administration, classmates and teammates.
This year's winner participated in volleyball, basketball, and soccer during all four years of her high school career. She was a 4 year starter on the volleyball team and 4 year all-conference player. She was among the top service scorers on the team, a leader in attacks and sacrificed her body to dive out and play a ball numerous occasions. On the basketball team she played on the varsity team all 4 year of high school. You usually found her around the basket getting rebounds and following missed shots. Her leadership and hard work was a valuable asset to the girl's basketball program throughout her career. Soccer is where she really excelled. She has been a 4 year starter on the soccer team, being apart of 4 year record of 70 wins, 15 loses, and 2 ties. She is a 3 time all-conference player, and was named to the all-region team as a junior. She is one of the captains of the soccer team, and her leadership shows through her devotion to her teammates, and also through her work ethic in practice, games, and off-season workouts.

BEST ALL-AROUND FEMALE ATHLETE AT ROANOKE RAPIDS HIGH SCHOOL – must have lettered in at least two sports, possess the following traits of sportsmanship, citizenship, attitude, dependability, leadership and teamwork every time that they compete for RRHS and are role models for every athlete who wears the Yellow Jacket jersey.
This year's winner has competed in volleyball, basketball, softball, and soccer during her high school career. She has been a 3 sport athlete during all 4 years of her high school career. In volleyball she stepped up this year by taking on the role of setter. She provided outstanding vocal
leadership and competitive play during the season. In basketball she led the team in scoring averaging 15 points and 3 steals a game. Her athletic ability and her passion of do not quit kept the team in many games this year. During her senior soccer season she has scored 40 goals and had 14 assists on a team that has advanced to the regional final of the state playoffs. She has stepped up for the team in every big moment this year and has displayed a wonderful attitude. She has been a huge part of our team's success the last 2 seasons not just for her stats, but her leadership as well.

His passion and dedication helped him lead others on the baseball team to work harder to improve their own game. He is the 3-time RRHS Baseball MVP. He is the 3-time Conference Baseball Player of the Year. He will be a 3-time member of the 2A All-State Baseball Team. According to his baseball coach, it has been a true pleasure to have coached such a great player and an even better young man for these last 4 years."
