Two Littleton men with past criminal histories are in more trouble with the law following a Saturday night shooting outside a private pool hall.

One man, Jackie “Squirrel” Putney Jr. was located at his residence and taken into custody while Jerry Ikee Stovall remains at large.

Detective Joshua Clark with the Halifax County Sheriff's Office said a motive in the shooting, which occurred around 6 p.m. at a cinder block building used as a pool hall, has not been established.

The pool hall is located outside Littleton on Bowers Road and the sheriff's responded to multiple 911 calls about shots being fired.

Clark said there have been several calls in the past to the location, including shots fired and fights.

Between 20 to 30 rounds were fired outside the building from what was believed to be a high-powered rifle and small-caliber handgun. The shots struck a car in the parking lot and damaged the exterior of the building.

Deputies arrived to find multiple people seeking shelter from gunfire inside the building, although it was not clear how many were inside at the time of the shooting. No one was injured.

Through witness accounts and investigation, the sheriff's office identified Putney, 25, and Stovall, 24, as the alleged shooters.

Putney, who has had had previous run-ins with the sheriff's office was charged with shooting into an occupied building, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, injury to real property and injury to personal property. He was also served an outstanding warrant for larceny.

Putney was jailed on $20,500 bond and has an October 30 court date.

Stovall frequents the Littleton area and faces the same charges as Putney. He is considered to be armed and dangerous.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call the sheriff's office at 252-583-8201 or Crimestoppers at 252-583-4444.
