Wanda received her golden wings and was able to go home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 22, 2013.
Wanda fought a hard, long battle with colon/ovarian cancer since 2008. She fought a great fight until the end. Wanda was a very special lady that was loved by many. Wanda attended Calvary Baptist Church with a wonderful church family.
She left her precious memories with a very special husband, who was always her caretaker, her best friend, the love of her life, Wayne Turner of the home; a very special daughter Tina Turner, her grandchildren, who she loved dearly, Ja’Quan and Ja’Kaylah Jefferson, all of Littleton; a very special mother-in-law, who she could always count on, Sara Mae Turner; her father, James E. Whitby of Roanoke Rapids; her mother, Inettea and her step-father, Roger Epps of Emporia, VA; one brother, Danny Whitby of Emporia; three sisters, Brenda Russ of Bostic, NC, Susan Liming of Lawrenceville, VA, and Debbie Blankenship of Emporia, VA. Also surviving are a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, family, and many friends.
The family will receive friends at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service Thursday, October 24, 2013 from 7-8:30 pm. Rev. Randy Martin will conduct funeral services in the chapel at Hockaday, Friday, October 25, 2013 at 2:00 pm with interment to follow in Crestview Memorial Cemetery.
