Man charged in August cig theft

A man wanted for allegedly stealing five cartons of cigarettes from an Enfield convenience store was arrested Thursday, according to the Halifax County Sheriff's Office.

Detective Christopher Scott the cigarettes have not been recovered. Total value was around $200.

Willie Thomas Batchelor, 51, of Enfield, was arrested by Deputy Brian Biggerstaff on warrants drawn following an investigation on the matter that began in August.

Batchelor was charged with breaking and entering, larceny after breaking and entering and possession of stolen goods.

He was given a $5,000 unsecured bond and awaits a November 13 court date.
