A Roanoke Rapids man was charged today in a 2012 breaking and entering in which a gun and a lockbox was stolen.

Cody Ryan Roundtree, 22, faces charges of breaking and entering and larceny, possession of stolen goods, larceny of a firearm and possession of a firearm by a felon.

Detective Christopher Scott of the Halifax County Sheriff's Office said items stolen during the break-in also included money and car titles, which were apparently stored in the lockbox.

Scott said the investigation began in June of 2012 and new information developed allegedly linked Roundtree to the crime.

Roanoke Rapids police, who had warrants on him, arrested Roundtree today. He was jailed on $26,000 bond and has a November 13 court date.

It was not immediately clear what Roanoke Rapids police arrested him for, although court records show scheduled appearances for him in November and December for misdemeanor larceny and possession of stolen goods and driving while license revoked.
