Kareem Martin wins weekly award

New Haven, CT – The Walter Camp Football Foundation has announced the Football Bowl Subdivision National Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, presented by Generation UCAN, for games ending November 16.

About the Award: This is the 10th year that the Walter Camp Football Foundation will honor one offensive and one defensive player as its national Football Bowl Subdivision player of the week during the regular season. Recipients are selected by a panel of national media members and administered by the Foundation.



DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

KAREEM MARTIN, NORTH CAROLINA

Senior, Defensive End, Roanoke Rapids, NC/Roanoke Rapids

Defensive end Kareem Martin recorded eight tackles, 3.5 quarterback sacks and forced two fumbles (recovering one) as the Tar Heels defeated Pittsburgh, 34-27.  With the win, UNC improved to 5-5, 4-3 in the Atlantic Coast Conference.

 

NOTE: Kareem Martin is the second UNC player to earn Walter Camp National Player of the Week honors, joining former Tar Heel defensive back Kendric Burney (Nov. 15, 2009).
