Acree part of Soccer Champions

Roanoke Rapids High school Sophomore Catherine Acree was part of Championship travel soccer team this past weekend.

 

Acree was a guest player for the U-16 Classic girls Rocky Mount Cyclones

 

The team traveled to Wilmington to play in the “Cape Fear Beach Classic.”

 

On Saturday the Cyclones won both games by shut outs, against a team from Indian River(near Charlotte) 4-0 and then one from Triangle United(Chapel Hill area) 5-0.

 

On Sunday the Cyclones had a hard fought win against a team from Cape Fear(Wilmington), which ended in a tie in regulation 2-2, but then was won in sudden death by penalty kicks.

 

 

Sunday afternoon the Cyclones had another hard fought game against a team from East Wake(Raleigh area) and with a couple of injured players on the sideline, they were able to secure a 2-1 win and captured the Championship
