Baby mamma drama leads to assault

A Monday night assault victim in Hobgood was treated and released while the ensuing investigation led to four arrests.

According to a statement from Lieutenant Tim Harris of the Halifax County Sheriff's Office, Sergeant Greg Richardson and Corporal Willie Murphy responded to 102 North Bay Street where a man had been assaulted.

The victim stated the mother of his child, Brandy Futrell, 19, allegedly called and said she wanted to meet with him.

Futrell and Brittany Brown picked up Bobby Goods and Raekwon Williams and allegedly drove to Hobgood from Scotland Neck where the victim met them at the road and was jumped.

The four allegedly beat the victim and seriously injured him.

It was unclear what provoked the assault and Harris was not immediately available for comment as of this report.

Futrell, of Scotland Neck, was charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and felony conspiracy. She was jailed without the opportunity for bond.

Brown, 18, of Scotland Neck, was charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and felony conspiracy. She was incarcerated under a $10,000 secured bond.

Goods, 16, of Scotland Neck, was charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and felony conspiracy. He was incarcerated under a $10,000 secured bond.

Williams, 17, of Scotland Neck, was charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and felony conspiracy. He was jailed on a $10,000 secured bond.
