Roanoke Rapids police have received three calls this morning regarding a scam involving Dominion Power bills.

Captain Andy Jackson said a caller purportedly from Dominion threatens the customer with turning their power off unless they go to the Walmart business center and buy a Western Union card in the amount of $998. The caller says a representative will then go by the customer's house to pick the card up.

As of this report, no one has been taken by the scam.

Jackson said those with issues with their power bill can go through Dominion to work out any problem. “Dominion doesn't use Western Union cards from the business center at Walmart.”

This scam may be reported to Crimestoppers by calling 252-583-4444.
