The vehicle, a 2004 Saturn Vue, was loaded with scrap wire and cable taken from CenturyLink, which is also located on Julian R. Allsbrook Highway.
The Halifax County Sheriff's Office, according to Major Scott Hall, estimated the value of materials stolen to be around $2,500.
It was not immediately clear how a man identified as Benjamin Michael Aston, 19, and possibly others, gained access to the fenced-in area of the property, Hall said.
In a statement, however, Hall said that shortly before 2:45 a.m., Narcotics Agent D.C. Dickens stopped Aston, and requested assistance from Corporal Matt Brown once he discovered what was described as an overabundance of scrap wires and cables inside the vehicle.
During a field interview, Brown reportedly discovered the scrap metal was stolen from CenturyLink, located at 621 Julian R. Allsbrook Highway.
Brown charged Aston with conspiracy to commit larceny, possession of stolen goods, felony larceny, displaying a revoked registration plate and first-degree trespassing.
Aston was jailed on $10,000 bond, and has a March 19 court date.
Additional arrests are pending.
