The Roanoke Rapids based Roanoke Valley Fisher Under 9 travel baseball team played this weekend for assistant coach Chad Geary. Coach Geary's had beaten cancer one and has just had to undergoing cancer treatment again and appears to have it beat again, but the team sure was missing him at the field this weekend.
The Fishers traveled to Snow Hill to play in the EC Nations Baseball's “NC East Division Summer State” tournament. Playing a round robin tournament with best record placing first.
The Fishers played four games in two days finishing 3-1 and placing second in the tournament. On Saturday they beat the Connie's Corner Sluggers 15-0, lost to the Washington River rats 9-7 and Sunday they beat the Morehead City Mavericks 10-0 then beat the North Wake Nitro 13-3 .
