Jacket duo represented the Valley well

Region 3 falls short in 2014 Powerade State games medal game.

The Roanoke Rapids High Lady Jacket softball Junior classmates Hunter Martin and Jordan Carpenter saw four games of action in the 2014 Powerade State games in Charlotte this week for the Region 3 team.

 

In their first game Monday night Region 3 lost 6-8. In game two played Tuesday morning they went nine innings and the game tied 6-6. In game three played Tuesday night, Region 3 won 10-5 and claimed the #2 seed in B bracket for the Bronze 3rd place game for Wednesday night. In Wednesday night Region 3 came up short losing 5-9 to Region 7.

 

Jordan went 3-7 with a couple of runs scored while Hunter pitched 6 innings only giving up 6 hits.

 

Region 3 head coach Robbie Wray stated. "It was a pleasure to have kids from Roanoke Rapids on the team. Jordan and Hunter did a great job representing their school and community. "This was the first time to my knowledge that we had anyone try out from Roanoke Rapids, These two young ladies have a lot to be proud of to be the first from their area to represent the school in the Powerade State games," Coach Wray added.

 

Next season the games will be in Raleigh and coach added he hoped they can get more participation from the Northeast area of Region 3.
