The RRYBA U10 open play Friday night.

The Under 10 All-star team will be coached by JL Nelson and open play Friday night June 27th at Abrams Field in Pinetops. The U9's are playing in Area 4 (South Edgecombe) and will play at 7:30 PM against Wilson County.

When asked about each player on the U10 All-star team, Coach Nelson stated the following,

Parker Bristow – Parker came in as an infielder but has developed into an incredible outfielder.  Parker has a solid swing, and has been hitting the ball hard and extremely well. He bats in the clean-up spot for the All Stars.  To go along with a hot bat, Parker is one of the fastest players on the team.

Sam Burgwyn – Sam, like Parker, came in as an infielder but has worked hard to become a stellar outfielder.  Sam uses his knowledge from playing the infield to ensure he’s always in the correct spot to back up infield plays when patrolling left field for the All Stars.  Sam is a very savvy base runner as well.

Jacob Edenbeck – Jacob is one of the most technically sound middle infielders around.  Best known to his teammates as “Monkey”, Jacob is a vocal leader on the field and always seems to be around the ball making plays.  When Jacob gets on base look out because he will make you pay with very smart base running.

Zach Elder – Zach is a versatile player for the All Stars, being able to play 2nd base, outfield, and catcher.  Zach has worked hard on his hitting and it’s paying off.  He has been hitting the ball extremely well and has steadily moved up the line-up because of it.  Zach is one of those kids that just looks like he’s having a blast when he’s on the ball field.

Alex Galloway – Alex plays the infield but is primarily at 3rd base where he will do whatever to stop the ball.  Defensively Alex is always on the ground after balls, thinking nothing should get by him.  Alex is another All Star swinging a hot bat right now.  Not the most vocal player on the field but the first one with 2 outs to be yelling our team motto “FINISH”.

Wade Jenkins – Wade is the epitome of a utility player.  You can plug Wade anywhere in the line up defensively and he will make plays.  Although he can play anywhere he is a phenomenal catcher and a workhorse behind the plate, rarely needing a break.  Wade is a power hitter looking to make the outfield pay every time he steps to the plate.

Marcus Moore – Marcus is one of those coach’s luxuries, an infielder that can play outfield and an outfielder that can play infield, and you never miss a beat.  Marcus plays middle infield and right field for us and has done a tremendous job learning the aspects of all three positions.  Marcus is a contact hitter with a sound swing.

Russell Moore – The best way to describe Russell is a “strike thrower”.  I’m not sure Russell knows how to throw anything but strikes because he’s so good at it.  When Russell takes the mound you know you are going to get a good performance.  A solid pitcher that can and does play everywhere on the field except catcher.  Russell also has a very hot bat and fully understands situational baseball.

Coleman Neal – If anyone ever states “the bunt is a lost art in baseball” they need to watch Coleman play.  Coleman has perfected the art of the bunt and uses it to his advantage.  I’ve seen everyone from the pitcher to the fielders to the people in the stands know he was bunting and he still laid down the perfect bunt and got on base.  An extremely fast base runner and outfielder.

Chase Nelson – Chase is a solid infielder that can play the outfield as well.  A smaller player that relies on sound technique for pitching and hitting success.  Chase is a leadoff batter that just knows how to get on base either by hit or having a good eye for strikes and balls.  One of the faster players on the team he’s also a smart base runner that scores a lot.  Chase has a very good understanding of situational baseball.

AJ Strickland – AJ is a physically dominating pitcher, who succeeds in getting ahead in counts.  Even when he gets behind in a count AJ can battle through and still keep batters off base.  AJ is an outstanding hitter that can hit to all areas of the field.  AJ will also play 1st base and catcher, where his knowledge of baseball allows him to be a vocal leader.
