The Warren County Sheriff's Office says it has persons of interest in a baseball bat assault that occurred Wednesday night off Bill Skinner Road in the Littleton area.

Sheriff Johnny Williams said today his office is working in conjunction with the Halifax County Sheriff's Office to investigate the assault, which occurred around 9 p.m. as the victim went to his office to take care of business.

He was approached by two people, possibly black males. At least one of them assaulted the victim with a baseball bat by beating him in the head. The men robbed the victim and also stole items from his truck.

The victim is recovering from his injuries, Williams said.

There was no physical description of the assailants, but it is believed they fled the scene in a light gray, small car.

Williams said anyone with information may call the Warren County confidential crime line at 252-257-1356 or Halifax County Crimestoppers at 252-583-4444.
