Judith Marie Hill

Judith Marie Hill, 65, of Raleigh, NC died on Friday June 27, 2014 at Rex Hospital in Raleigh.

Born on March 29, 1949 in Aurelian Springs, NC, she was the daughter of Larry and Marie Hill.

Judy was predeceased by her father.

She is survived by her mother of Roanoke Rapids, her close friend Charley Mayo of Raleigh, her brother Tom and his wife Carolyn of Easton, Pa., and brother Dan and his wife Sue of Wake Forest. Her nieces and nephews are Chris Hill, Stacie Phillips and her husband Brian, Emily Guseman and her husband Doug, David Hill, and Andy Hill.  Her great nieces and nephew are Ian and Lucy Philips, and Margaret Guseman.

She graduated from Aurelian Springs High School in 1967, received a B.S. in Chemistry from N. C. State University in 1971, and earned her M.S. in Food Science from NCSU in 1974. From 1974 until her retirement in 2011 she was a research chemist at the Research Triangle Institute.

A lifelong member of Bear Swamp Baptist Church of Littleton, NC, Judy was devoted to her extended family and had a special interest in genealogy.  She enjoyed gardening, reading, and knitting and was an avid supporter of N. C. State University. Since her retirement, she was active as a volunteer in support of numerous worthy causes.

Services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday July 1, 2014 at Bear Swamp Baptist Church with Revs Howard Guidry, Harvey Clayton and Charles Wilson officiating. Internment in the Church Cemetery will follow the service.  The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall at the church one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Bear Swamp Baptist Church, Box 94 Mohorn Road, Littleton, NC 27850 or the Baptist Children’s Homes of North Carolina, P.O. Box 338, Thomasville, NC 27360.
