A woman who allegedly cashed checks on a closed account and sold rental property to a pawn shop is being sought by the Halifax County Sheriff's Office.

Bowers

Detective Obert Wiltsie said Jennifer Bowers, 40, also allegedly used another person's bank account to pay bills.

She reportedly failed to return the rental property — consisting of a television, stereo system and bedroom suit — to a rent-to-own company and instead sold it to a pawn shop. Total value of the rented merchandise was approximately $4,130, Wiltsie said.

The total amount of losses on the two checks was $313.52.

Bowers faces two counts of worthless checks, three counts of identity theft, one count of failing to return rental property and one count of obtaining property by false pretense, a count which stems from allegedly selling the rental property.

Bowers has ties to Roanoke Rapids, Gaston, Garysburg, and Weldon.

Anyone with information on her whereabouts is encouraged to call the sheriff's office at 252-593-1019 or Crimestoppers at 252-583-4444.
