Dennis was born in Halifax County, August 15, 1946, to the late Rufus Taylor Newton, Sr. and Annie Dickerson Newton.
He was a painter for many years and loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing.
In addition to his parents, Dennis was preceded in death by his son, Timothy Wayne Newton; brother, Victor Payne Newton and grandson, Timothy Wayne Newton, Jr.
Surviving are two sons, Dennis Newton, Jr. and John Paul Newton; three daughters, Kim Newton, Crysta Moore and Heather Albano; one brother, Rufus Newton and three sisters, Judy Vaughan, Ann Cascell and Brenda Hernandez.
Also surviving are several grandchildren and great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pastor Richard Newton will conduct a graveside service at Crestview Memorial Cemetery Thursday, July 31, 2014, at 3:00 pm.
The family will receive friends at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service from 1:30-2:30 pm prior to graveside service.
