The execution of a search warrant at an East Tenth Street tattoo shop this evening ended with the arrest of the business's owner.

The raid also netted pills, marijuana and cocaine, said Captain Anzell Harris, of the Halifax County Sheriff's Office.

Harris said this evening several months of investigation by narcotics agents led to the raid just before 6 p.m. at Greatful Deadication Tattoos, which is in the same shopping center as Family Dollar.

The search warrant, which Agent D.C. Dickens applied for, reportedly shows evidence that some drugs were sold out of the shop. Harris said, however, the business was a legitimate tattoo studio and he would not call it a front for drug sales.

The owner, Tony Lee “Beetlejuice” Taylor, 47, of Pleasant Hill, who was arrested, had been running the shop for a while, Harris said.

After serving the search warrant, with assistance from Roanoke Rapids police Officer Gerald Morris and his dog Dozer, agents seized approximately 40 grams of marijuana, 54 Oxycodone pills, 33 Alprazolam pills, one Hydrocodone pill, one Clonazepam pill, four Xanax pills and 20 individually wrapped bags of cocaine.

In addition, digital scales, small plastic baggies and more than $3,100 in currency was seized.

The pills probably valued around $700 to $800, while there was about $1,000 worth of cocaine.

Dickens arrested Taylor and charged him with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, felony possession of marijuana, felony possession of cocaine, possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, maintain a dwelling for a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, simple possession of schedule III controlled substance, two counts of simple possession of schedule IV controlled substance, possession with intent to sell and deliver schedule IV controlled substance, and possession with intent to sell and deliver schedule II controlled substance.

Taylor was given a $50,000 secured bond with an October 1 court date.

In addition, Dillion Lee Ezzell, 23, of Whitakers, and Crystal Turner Taylor, 27, of Roanoke Rapids were cited with a state uniform citation for simple possession of marijuana.

Both were released with an October 1 court date.

The Nash County Sheriff’s Office and the United States Drug Enforcement Administration also assisted in the investigation. “The narcotic divisions rely on the public,” Harris said in a statement, adding the public may call Crimestoppers to report drug activity at 252 -583-4444.
