A 21-year-old Roanoke Rapids man faces charges stemming from alleged sex offenses with a 14-year-old girl.

Tevin McWilliams faces charges of statutory rape and indecent liberties with a minor following an investigation Sunday by Investigator Courtney Williams of the Northampton County Sheriff's Office.

Captain Chuck Hasty reported in a statement that around 6:30 Sunday morning Sergeant Antwone Johnson and Deputy Kenny Melton arrived at an East Jefferson Street residence in Jackson following a call from the victim's mother.

The mother told officers that when she came home from work she found a man later identified as McWilliams in her daughter's bed.

McWilliams was jailed on $350,000 bond. Investigation continues and more charges are pending.
