A federal court judge today in Greenville agreed to release Sterling Moody to the custody of his daughter in Raleigh.

Moody, who was charged September 10 on a federal cocaine trafficking count, is required to submit to supervision and report to supervisors for the United States Probation Officer and continue or actively seek employment.

Other conditions include surrendering any passport and getting the probation officer's approval should he have to travel outside the Eastern District of North Carolina's jurisdiction, according to federal court records.

He is also not to possess a firearm, not use alcohol excessively and not use or unlawfully possess any controlled substances.

His appearance bond notes that he agrees to appear for court proceedings. He was given a $500,000 unsecured bond.

He waived his rights to a preliminary hearing.

Michael C. Fitzpatrick, an attorney for The Foster Law Firm in Greenville, will represent Moody.
