A man reportedly driving left of center on Highway 561 in the Hollister area received several citations Tuesday night.

Major Scott Hall of the Halifax County Sheriff's Office said in a statement that around 10 p.m. Sergeant Eric Johnson stopped a 2000 Honda Accord near Lynch Hedgepeth Road.

During the stop, Johnson allegedly detected an odor of marijuana coming from within the vehicle and asked the driver, Trevor Lynch, 18, of Hollister about the smell.

Richardson reportedly handed Johnson a jar containing 14 grams of marijuana.

Richardson was charged and released on citations for possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, maintaining a vehicle to store a controlled substance and no operator’s license.
