Roanoke Rapids hosted the EC Nations Baseball 
travel baseball “Winter Woodbat State Championship” 
for Under 10 and Under 12 divisions Saturday at 
Ledgerwood Park. 

In the under 10 division, the Roanoke Valley Fishers 
emerged as champions defeating the Wilson Pilots 
8-3 in the championship game. 

In the under 12 division bracket, the Dirtbags Gold 
team based out of Oxford, NC went 3-0 defeating 
teams from Chesapeake, Emporia (Top Hand Sports) 
and Goldsboro on the day. 

“It was a fun day at Ledgerwood Park as the kids 
learned how baseball was played back in the day 
with wood bats,” said Fisher coach Ed Liverman. 
“Much thanks goes out to Roanoke Rapids Parks 
and Recreation, Halifax County Tourism, EC Nations 
Baseball and all the teams that made the trip to the 
Roanoke Valley that made this fun day possible,” 
Liverman added.
