A high school football player in Virginia died Friday after
he was hit during a game at Brunswick High School.
Jamond Salley, a junior a Park View High School in South
Hill, Va., was receiving medical attention when he lost
consciousness and began to have seizures, according to
WTVR. He was transported to a nearby hospital and
pronounced dead. The cause of death was not immediately
clear.
"Jamond was a strong student in both academics and as
an athlete," the school district superintendent, Dr. James
Thornton, said in a statement. "Members of his family,
friends and teachers have all shared one common trait of
Jamond, he was very respectful. He was a student with a
big heart and a smile that would instantly capture your
attention."

No other details have been released by the school.
