Mrs. Brantley was born in Nash County, January 3, 1930, to the late James Earl Lewis and Annie Atkinson Lewis.
She was a devoted church member of Bethlehem Baptist Church where she was a member of the Gideon’s Auxillary for many years and also gave away thousands of Bibles during this time.
She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Brantley was preceded in death by her sister, Diane Trevathan and great-grandson, Franklin Brantley Parrott.
Surviving are her husband, Kenneth Brantley, of the home; daughter, Joanne Parrott of Roanoke Rapids; brother, Alvin Earl Lewis and wife, JoAnn, of Matthews, NC; sister, Ethlynd Hibbs of Myrtle Beach, SC; aunt, Eloise Hibbs of Wilson, NC and grandson, K.C. Parrott. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
The family will receive friends Monday, November 3, 2014, from 6-8:30 pm at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service.
Pastor Jordan Willard will conduct funeral services Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at 2 p.m. in the chapel at Hockaday with interment to follow at Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to: Gideon’s International, PO Box 1563, Roanoke Rapids, NC 27870.
