Billy Lee Warren

Billy Lee Warren, 76, died Thursday, December 11, 2014, at Life Care Hospital in Rocky Mount, NC.  

Mr. Warren was born in Halifax County, January 11, 1938, to the late Sterling Warren and Callie Mae Cook Warren.

After serving in the United States Army, Mr. Warren came back to work the farm, where he loved farming with his brothers, and later, farming with his son.  

In his younger years, he loved racing at Chantilly Speedway where he was known as the “Mayor of Buzzardtown” and won countless trophies.  

In addition to his parents, Mr. Warren was preceded in death by his brothers, Grover and Tommy Warren; sister, Phyllis Warren; brother-in-laws, Bill Sanderford, Curtis and Monte Pittman; mother and father-n-law, Violet and William Pittman.

Surviving are his wife, Sandra Warren of the home; daughters, Wendy Taylor and husband, Darrell, of Georgia, Terry Miles and husband, Jamie, and son, Billy Warren and wife, Fran both of Darlington; brother, Dan Warren and wife, Marie, of Darlington; sisters, Patricia Warren, Faye Sanderford, Betty Carlisle and husband, Curtis, all of Darlington, and Dee Gorman of Charleston, SC; brother-in-law, Willard Pittman and wife, Lydia of Littleton; grandchildren, Barry Lewis, Elton Lewis, Brandy Miles, Heather Keeter and husband Dennis, Jesse Taylor, P.J. Harlin, Kristen Harlin and Michael Sheppard; great-grandchildren, Adalaina Miles, Kyler and Violet Lewis; his special caregivers, Lisa Miles, Mildred Price, Isabelle Macon, and Angela Knight.  Also surviving are 23 nieces and nephews.  

Jeff Haislip will conduct a memorial service to celebrate Mr. Warren’s life at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Monday, December 15, 2014, at 1:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested memorial contributions be made to Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses 214 Dickens Farm Rd. Roanoke Rapids, NC 27870.
