Edmun Lewis Jenkins

Edmun Lewis Jenkins, 81, of Roanoke Rapids, passed away Friday February 27, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family.  

Mr. Jenkins was born December 16, 1933 in Halifax County to the late Charlie and Eva Allen Jenkins.  

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.  

Mr. Jenkins proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.  He loved tinkering with his tractors, loved farming and raising cattle and horses. 

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his brothers Cronval Jenkins; and Troy “Buddy” Jenkins; and a sister Seretha Bullock.

Mr. Jenkins is survived by his wife of 62 years Gladys Jenkins; his daughters Gail Exum and husband Richard of Lake Gaston; Wendy Milburn and husband Chuck of Hanna City, IL; and Pam Clapton and husband Mike of Littleton; his grandchildren Christy King; Jeremy Jordan; Kelly Myers; Justin Exum; Kevin Ogburn; and Christopher Clapton.  He is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren; his sister Fannie Reynolds of Roanoke Rapids; and his special sisters-in-law Teenie Jenkins and Dot Jenkins; and a devoted special friend, Pastor Rick Rogers. 

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service with Rev. Rick Rogers officiating. Burial will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Tuesday, March 3, 2015 from 7:00 to 8:30 PM at the funeral home and all other times at the home of his daughter Pam Clapton, 473 Jack Brown Rd. Littleton, NC.
