Brown, Williams receive promotions

KapStone Kraft Paper Corporation’s Roanoke Rapids Mill recently announced new roles for Doug Brown and Chris Williams.

Brown has been promoted to maintenance supervisor for the Preventive Maintenance and Machine Shop Groups.

He began his career with KapStone in 2008 as a project engineer.

He has also held positions as a mechanical designer with ILCO UNICAN Corporation in Rocky Mount, mechanical technician with Industrial Laboratory Equipment Company in Charlotte and Mechanical Engineer at INCO Incorporated in Rocky Mount.

He has gained maintenance experience in his career in various roles at Weyerhaeuser in Plymouth, NEVAMAR in Tarboro and West Fraser in Seaboard.

Brown earned a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

He also holds associate degrees in manufacturing technology and nechanical drafting/design from Wilson Community College. Brown and his wife, Connie, reside in Garysburg.

They have two adult sons, Dustin and Cody.

Williams has been promoted to environmental engineer.

He previously served as fourth maintenance apprentice.

He began his full-time employment with KapStone in March 2013 as a first maintenance apprentice. He worked as an environmental intern at the Roanoke Rapids Mill during the summer of 1994. Williams has also served as the town planner for Ocean Isle Beach and county planner for the county of Halifax.

He received his bachelor of science degree in environmental studies from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.

In addition, he has furthered his studies at Halifax Community College and Nash Community College. Chris and his wife, Shelley, reside in Roanoke Rapids.

 

They have two sons, Connor, age 8, and Sawyer, age 7.
