This procedure removes rust and incrustations from the water system and locates valves that may be closed, which would restrict water flow for firefighting purposes, Chief Stacy Coggins said.
The starting area to be tested is the Downtown west side of Roanoke Avenue moving south and east to the city limits.
”Please check your tap water for discoloration before drinking, bathing or washing clothes,” Coggins said. “If your water is discolored, turn the cold water tap on until the water runs clear. We hope to finish the hydrant flushing as soon as possible. We apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause.”
