JV & Varsity Halifax baseball fall

Vikings Varsity baseball lose a heart-breaker at Faith Christian Friday in extra innings 2-3.

After losing to FC a couple of weeks ago at home, the Varsity Vikings had a score to settle.

The Vikings scored in the 2nd inning when Ryan Mizelle got walked, advanced to 2nd on a passed ball by the catcher and scored when Tyler Jomo hit a bullet into right center for a stand-up double. They scored again in the top of the 6th inning when Jomo hit a lead-off double and would eventually score.

The Vikings left 14 runners on base which would come back to haunt them. They held FC scoreless until the 7th inning when FC scored 2 runs to tie and scored the winning run in the bottom of the 8th inning.

Luke Blackman pitched all 8 innings for the Vikings, striking out 11 batters, walking 4, hitting 2, and only allowed 4 hits.

Tyler Jomo lead Viking hitters with 2 doubles; Matthew Wray, Luke Blackman, Brandon Moody, & Bradley Myrick all had singles. Vikings next game will be at Crossroads Christian in Henderson Tuesday.

 

The JV Vikings also fell to Faith Christian Friday 5-12.

Evan Dail pitched 3 innings then Thomas Garrett pitched an inning of relief and Jesse Rose pitched the final 2 innings.

Top hitters for the JV Vikings were: Evan Dail went 3-4 with 2 singles & a double while Justin Conner went 2-2 both being singles.
