Roanoke Rapids alumnus and co-workers and friends & family came out to the 2015 Chad Geary Memorial softball game. Over $2,000.00 was raised for Geary's children Austin & Addison's college fund.
Organizer Jan Tugwell stated, "It was Great & pleased with the turnout". "We have a few event t-shirts left if anyone would like to purchase one, just give me a call at 519-7263 and the cost is $10 each," added Tugwell.
A moment of silence was observed and balloons were released in Geary's honor.
Geary's son Austin threw out the first pitch as his mother Heidi and sister Addison cheered at the mound. Later in the game Austin was able to bat for each team, making contact both times.
The kids in the stands were able to run the bases between an inning/ Free face painting and other games were available. Several teachers had there turn getting dunked.
Roanoke Rapids Alumnus & professional Men's Slow Pitch player Lee Powers took pledges for each home-run out of ten hits. Of course all ten went over the fence, but one was foul, so for pledgers paid for 9 home-runs.
