Cal Ripken U10 day one of tourney in the books

Day one of four days is in the books for the Cal Ripken Area Three tournament, in which Roanoke Rapids Youth Baseball Association (RRYBA) is hosting at Ledgerwood Park.

West Raleigh, Henderson /Vance along with Roanoke Rapids team advances along with Granville who had a 1st round bye to second round in the winners bracket. While Outer Banks, South Edgecombe and North Wake drop to the loser bracket in the double elimination tournament.

RRYBA president Todd Lockamon stated, "I think day one was over all pretty good. I was happy with the PA announcing on both fields and extremely happy with the volunteer support we received."

"Our baseball commissioner was impressed with WPTM 102.3's live broadcast of the Roanoke Rapids game, along with having the Roanoke Rapids Fire Department on site with First responders and their fire truck with the big American Flag." Lockamon added.

Five games are scheduled for Friday starting at 3 PM.
