Apartment developer pulls rezoning request

The developer of a high-end apartment complex on Cross Creek Parkway has withdrawn his rezoning request from further consideration by the city, Roanoke Rapids Planning and Development Director Kelly Lasky told council at its work session this evening.

The city has enlisted the help of a brokerage company to solicit proposals to refinance its debt on the Royal Palace Theatre.

Embers take stage for National Night Out

The Embers begin playing at National Night Out at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The Halifax County Finance Department today was awarded for the 14th straight year a certificate of achievement for excellence in financial reporting.
