Body found in abandoned Enfield building

A autopsy is pending this week to determine how long the body of a man found in an abandoned Enfield building may have been dead and how he died.

A man struck by a tractor-trailer this morning on Highway 158 at the Virginia Avenue intersection is listed in serious condition and is unresponsive, according to Roanoke Rapids police.

A man straddling a bicycle in the travel lane of Highway 903 in the Scotland Neck area Friday night was struck and killed, according to the state Highway Patrol.

October gang summit planned

As Halifax County Sheriff Wes Tripp reports today the August murders of Keyuon Garner and Dy'Uanna Anderson are believed to be gang-related, he also plans an unrelated push in October to educate the public on the area's gang problem.
