Northampton dragnet reels in Clanton

A teen wanted for ice box parts thefts in Roanoke Rapids was captured today after the Northampton County Sheriff's Office set up a dragnet in an area he was supposed to be traveling through.

Police seek man who lifted credit card

The Roanoke Rapids Police Department is looking for a man who on August 9 reportedly trailed a woman at Food Lion and stole her credit card from her purse.

The Northampton County Sheriff's Office reported the following over the weekend:

A 21-year-old Roanoke Rapids man faces charges stemming from alleged sex offenses with a 14-year-old girl.

Northampton responds to two weekend assaults

A Virginia man was arrested today in a weekend Northampton County assault and on an at least three-year-old warrant from Halifax County.

Persons of interest have been developed in the two Subway robberies as well the two Dollar General robberies, the Halifax County Sheriff's Office said today.

Weldon PD hits Community House again

The Community House, a problem area at 209 Ransome Circle in Weldon, was the target of an undercover drug operation Friday night, resulting in two arrests.

The Jackson Police Department and State Bureau of Investigation arson specialists are investigating a house fire that occurred early this morning.

Overall, 75 percent of the schools in the in the Roanoke Rapids Graded School District met or exceeded academic growth for 2013-14 and all schools exhibited improvement.
