James Lewis Lewter, 78 of Roanoke Rapids, NC passed away peacefully at his residence on Sunday December 17, 2023.
Mr. Lewter was born on November 30, 1945, in Northampton County, the son of the late Clyde and Bertha Lewter.
He was preceded in death by his brother Joe Lewter, his daughter Amanda Lewter and grandson Christopher Finch.

He is survived by his wife Berniece Lewter, sons Donnie Lewter and David (Kelly) Lewter of Roanoke Rapids, daughters, Judy (Andre) Boyd of Littleton and Kerry Lewter of Raleigh, his brother Jesse (Pam) Lewter of Colorado, 9 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Special relatives by Heart Michelle Jackson, Timothy Walker, and Alison Mann.
He was a dedicated route salesman by trade.
A funeral service will be held at Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Chapel Wednesday December 20, 2023, at 2:00pm. Pastor Steve Conwell will conduct the service. Visitation will be held at Hockaday Funeral and Cremation from 1:00pm to 2:00pm.
