Douglas Calvin Luper, 61, of Cape Carteret, NC, passed away on Saturday, April 6, 2024 in Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.  

Mr. Luper was born on September 15, 1962, in Rocky Mount, NC, the son of the late Vesta Elizabeth Mayfield and Charlie Luper.  He was also preceded in death by his brother Gary Arrington and his niece Andrea J. Lamb.

Mr. Luper loved life, he never met a stranger, enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing.  He served our country as a member of the United States Coast Guard for 30 years, where he retired as a Chief Warrant Officer 4.  

Surviving include his two sons, Josh Luper (Isabella) of Stafford, VA and Cody Luper (Danielle) of Stumpy Point, his sisters, Cindy Sewell (Mike) of Roanoke Rapids, Betsy Nagy of Rocky Mount and Joan Lucas of Rocky Mount, his brother Tim Luper (Sylvia) of Rocky Mount, his sister-in-law, Brenda Arrington of Elm City, his grandson Braidan Luper, and his companion Berkley.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at 11:00 AM in Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service with Pastor Nathan Johnson officiating.  

Burial will be held at 2:00 PM in Rocky Mount Memorial Park.  

The family will receive friends on Friday, April 19, 2024 from 7:00 – 9:00 PM at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service.
