The latest events from the Roanoke Rapids Public Library:

Updated resource material

Roanoke Rapids Public Library has recently acquired updated resources in its reference collection.

It now has new materials on taxes, starting a small business, divorce, copyrights and trademarks, becoming a US Citizen, bankruptcy and legal forms.

Patrons may use these books while visiting the library.

The library staff does not give legal or tax advice and recommends that patrons consult an attorney or certified tax preparer for legal or tax issues.

Black History Month trivia

In commemoration of Black History Month, Roanoke Rapids Public Library will conduct a trivia contest for patrons, ages 10 and above, based on history and culture.

From Saturday through February 29, pick up an entry form at the library’s service desk that will have the questions, multiple-choice answers and a place to circle your answers.

Entry forms and guidelines are available at the service desk during operating hours.

Patrons may submit only one entry form.

Patrons must complete entry forms in the library and submit them at the service desk.

All patrons, who have all the correct answers to questions, will have a chance of winning one of three gift cards from Wal-Mart provided by the Friends of Roanoke Rapids Public Library.

This drawing will be on Wednesday, March 4 and library staff will notify winners.

You do not have to be present at the drawing to be eligible to win.
