Halifax County Cooperative Extension is seeking food and product vendors for the 2023 Harvest Days festival.

The festival will be held at the 4-H Rural Life Center off Highway 903 — Friday, October 20, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. specifically for 4th and 5th grade students — and Saturday, October 21 for the public from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Food and product vendors are now being accepted for very reasonable vendor fees. For-profit product vendors — arts, crafts, retail, and others — have a $25 vendor fee. Non-profits, churches, sellers who demonstrate their crafts on site, and educational/informational vendors who are not selling items are free of charge.

Commercial food vendors have a $50 vendor fee — with an additional $75 temporary permit fee, if needed, paid to the health department.

Non-profit and church food vendors are free of charge. Vendors may participate one or both days of the event for the same total fee.

“(This year’s festival) will be another wonderful year for Halifax County Harvest Days, and we are planning a fantastic event that will highlight the diversity of our county and its history,” said Beth Burchell, Halifax County extension director. “This year is also the 100th Anniversary of the 4-H Rural Life Center, formerly the Halifax County Home, and we are so excited to have completed some important building renovations this year to preserve this special and historic place.”

The event celebrates agriculture and features farm animals, antique tractors, hay wagon rides, the agricultural museum, and educational exhibits, as well as entertainment throughout the day.
