KIPP girls and Oakwood boys win Championships at Halifax Academy Varsity basketball Christmas tournament

KIPP high varsity girls beat host Halifax Academy 46-41 in girls Championship game.

Leading scorers for KIPP were Kayla Buffaloe with 30 points, Niambi Wilkins with 6 points and Shalonda Taylor with 5 points.

Leading scorers for Halifax were Kelly Williams with 23 points, Ryanne Hilliard with 5 points, Kim Shearin and Hayley Wood had 4 points each.

All tournament team members were from Halifax Kelly Williams and Hayley Wood and from KIPP were Shalonda Taylor, Melodee Cherry and Niambi Wilkins. All Tournament girls MVP was Kayla Buffaloe from KIPP

Halifax Academy boys lost to Oakwood in the varsity boys championship game 37-48.

Leading scorers for Halifax were Garrett Morris with 15 points, Austin Starnes with 11 points, and Holden Strickland with 9 points.

Leading scorers for Oakwood were Tre Burnes with 17 points, Donald Little with 15 points and Jackson Seaves with 6 points.

All tournament team members from Halifax were Garrett Morris and Austin Starnes and All Tournament boys MVP was Tre Burnes from Oakwood.

In Consolation game KIPP JV boys lost to Crossroads Christian 33-43. Leading scorer for KIPP was Chris Newell with 17 points.
