The Roanoke Valley Girls Softball League U8 All-stars redeem District loss to Currituck in State with a win and a trip to the 2016 Little Tarheel State championship in Jefferson NC Saturday.

The Roanoke Valley all-stars beat Currituck County Friday 20-19 sending Currituck to the looser bracket in the double elimination tournament. Currituck will play a 10 AM game Saturday with the winner advancing to play Roanoke Valley in the Championship match at 11:30 AM.

In Friday afternoons win, at the plate for Roanoke Rapids: Kyla Odom (Lightning) had two singles and a double, Madison Jones (Hollywood) had three singles, Maecy Garris (LA) had four singles,  Emily Clay (Fireball) had two singles and a double, Kenlyn Crowder (Thunder) had three singles, Peyton Kelly (Pit Bull) had two doubles and a triple, Shae Johnson (Two-Step) had a single, Meagan Davis (Tornado) had a single, Sara Vann (Sassy) had two singles and a homerun, Maddie Patrick (Mad-Dog) had three singles, Shandi Byrum (Twinkle-toes) had a single and a double.

The Roanoke Valley U8 all-stars play the 2016 Little Tarheel State championship Saturday morning at 11:30 AM.
