Roanoke Rapids police are investigating the robbery of a pizza delivery driver Sunday night in which some of the employee’s personal items were taken along with the pizza being delivered.
Interim Chief Bobby Martin said a weapon was shown during the heist, which occurred shortly before 11:30 p.m. in the 1400 block of Pruden Street.
Officers learned the driver was approached by three people and while the driver wasn’t harmed, personal belongings and the pizza were taken.

On Saturday shortly after 6 p.m., officers responded to a call about a careless and reckless driver coming off Interstate 95 into the city.
Officers responded to the area but did not immediately locate the vehicle.
While following up on another call they identified the vehicle and encountered the driver and passenger while the vehicle was parked. They issued a warning.
Lieutenant J. Baggett encountered the vehicle again and conducted a traffic stop.
The driver was Identified as Derrick Wright, 29, of Virginia. He was charged with DWI.
He received a June 10 court date and $1,500 bond.
