North Carolina Native Randy Travis walked on the Weldon Mills Theatre stage Thursday night for his More Than Life tour with James Depre' along with Travis's long-time band.
Travis, a Country singer superstar, gospel singer and songwriter, as well as a film and television actor had a near life ending stroke in July 2013. In 2016, Travis was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame and sang "Amazing Grace" at the induction ceremony.
James Dupré, a native of Bayou Chicot, Louisiana sang Travis big hits while Travis and his wife Mary set front side stage. Mary spoke through the show on Travis's behalf able the tour, the long-time band members and Travis's road since his stroke. She also spoke of feeling like being home since her father was from Warrenton and her mother from Martinsville VA.
Throughout the show, fans made their way down to the stage to geta photo or a selfie with Mr. Travis in the background. Mr. Travis would wave and point and let the fans know he loved them.
Randy Travis closed the show at the end of James Dupre' singing For Even Amen with the last word of the night from his chair, AMEN!!
