The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office is conducting a death investigation after the body of a 24-year-old man was found in a semi-wooded area off Stack Powell Road Monday evening.

Sheriff Wes Tripp this morning declined immediate comment on how long the person, Tyler Patrick Warren of the Darlington community, may have been deceased. “A lot of questions hopefully will be resolved once the autopsy findings come in.”

In a statement this morning Tripp said shortly before 6 p.m. Monday the sheriff’s office responded to an area off Stack Powell Road in Roanoke Rapids after a deceased person was located.

Cause of death remains under investigation pending autopsy results.
