The holiday spirit was on full display this weekend as the community gathered for the annual Roanoke Rapids Christmas Parade, celebrating creativity, tradition, and hometown pride. 

Head Librarian Leigh Ann Brodsky said the winners and those receiving honorable mentions are as follows:

Church floats:

1st place — Greater Joy North Church

Honorable mention — New Testament Christian Church 

Christmas floats:

1st place — Liberty Commons Nursing & Rehabilitation Center of Halifax County

Honorable mentions — Concrete Rose Dance Academy; Pearce Concrete Works; Eastern Medical Transport; Weldon City Schools Cheerleaders

Car & Tractor Clubs:

1st place — Stray Cats

Honorable mention — Roanoke River Antique Engine and Tractor Club

Fire & Rescue:

1st place — Northampton County EMS

Honorable mention — Roanoke Valley Rescue 

Bands:

1st place — KIPP High Marching band

“We extend our sincere appreciation to our host bands — Roanoke Rapids High School and Chaloner Middle School, whose outstanding performances helped set a festive tone for the event,” Brodsky said. “While host bands are not eligible for competition judging, their contributions remain an essential part of the parade’s success.”

Winners should expect to receive a phone call this week to arrange pick up for their trophies and prizes.
